Edith Nesbit is the woman behind The Railway Children. Born in Surrey in 1858, Nesbit dedicated her works to her five children. Her most successful books also include The House of Arden, Five Children and It and The Story of the Treasure Seekers. Overall, Nesbit wrote 40 books for children and published twice as more by collaborating with other novelists.
