About Author

Alice in Wonderland was written by Lewis Carroll, who first published the story in 1865. The inspiration for the book came as Carroll enjoyed a day with some family friends down the River Thames in Oxford. The youngest child on the boat, named Alice, asked for a story and this is how Alice in Wonderland was first born. Carroll died of pneumonia in 1898.
